My friends and I have a saying. “Bow.” People always ask what we mean by “bow” when we say it, and its often hard to define. Simply put, it’s just a thing you say when things don’t make sense or make you disgruntled as a substutite for an explitive, but also so much more than that. It could be an expression of how you feel or a just a phrase you use for no good reason what so ever.

By the way – it’s “Bow” and in bow and arrow. It is NOT “bow” as in the sound a dog makes.

Today I had an incident at work that really exemplifies the definition of “Bow”. Let me explain as follows:

I don’t like working.
I don’t like working overtime.
I don’t like working unpaid overtime.
I don’t like working unpaid overtime on a Friday evening.
I don’t like working unpaid overtime on a Friday evening only to find out two weeks later that everything you discussed on that Friday evening is for not because the people whom you discussed the issues with have since decided that they didn’t want to do the extra work required by what you discussed on said Friday evening – so now you have to go back to the drawing board to a list of suggestions which you had made months ago.

Note that it was said on this call today that no thought had yet been put into this effort. My actual response was, “I seem to recall spending about three hours discussing this on a Friday evening, and I’d hate to think that one of my Friday evenings had been wasted for nothing.”

Bow.

I won’t lie to you though… some people might possibly not appreciate this topic in similar ways… some people might find this downright disgusting. Frankly, it kind of is. I won’t subject you to such if you don’t want. But if you’re quite compelled, now is the time to click through to the details…

OK! Don’t say I didn’t warn you. It’s not really all that bad to be honest. I mean, Everyone Poops! Get over it.

As I implied – certain aspects of my job have become like Polishing a Turd, which supposedly can’t be done. Though I would have readily agreed with this, Jamie and Adam of Mythbusters decided to investigate further. Lets watch…

FASCINATING!

I especially like how Jamie emphasises “POOP Polishing.”

So when I started this new job a few months ago, I said since I’m working remotely and traveling frequently I thought it’d be a good idea for me to have a blackberry. No response. Last week when I had to be tied down to my computer at the hotel until 1 in the morning one night, I said – “I NEED A BLACKBERRY!”

So today came my brand new blackberry. I was hoping to get the new Storm, but they couldn’t do that one yet on the company plan… meh. So I got a Curve instead. Nothing all that special, but it works.

But now it’s sinking in… all that contact… all those emails… no escaping it… ever…

Alright. So I just started this blog and already I’ve gotten lax about updating it. I’m not going to cry about it though. So I’ll do one big blog update on what’s been going on the past few weeks.

Thanksgiving was GREAT! I hosted 15 family members at my house. For the 3rd or 4th time, I FRIED the turkey. Let me tell you – frying the turkey is great. It’s a time saver, it opens the oven for other cooking needs, and it is the best tasting turkey you’ll ever taste. And it’s safe – sure you have to be careful, but after doing this a few times now I’ve figured out what I consider a (nearly) fool proof and safe method of frying the turkey. But that’s for another post. My other culinary claim to fame again this year was my home made ice cream. Oh so good.

Work is… well, it’s work. Traveled last week to Maryland for a few nights. This job I took just back in September, suffice it to say I’m not all that happy with it. Again, I could go on about it for quite some time but that will also have to be for another post, because it really deserves it’s own time.

The Club – Ok, I don’t think I’ve yet mentioned The Club Diner in this blog which is a real shame. The Club is possibly the greatest place on earth. Been there twice since my last posting. When you go to a place and while gathering in the parking lot your usual waitress (oh Patti!!:)) has your usual drinks waiting for you at your usual table and usual seats – that’s how you know you’ve probably been there too much but have no intention of stopping.

In recent month’s visits to The Club I’ve been getting a usual of Pork Roll & Egg & Cheese on a Bagel – always good. This latest visit, I decided to switch it up a bit. Scrapple & Egg & Cheese on a Bagel. I suggested this sandwich be added to the menu as “The Josh.” In review – it was good. Quite tasty, but I find the generally soft texture of the scrapple doesn’t lend itself well to a sandwich. You know how when you put too much ketchup on a sandwich it will ooze out the other side when you take a bite – that’s what happened here.

Christmas season is upon us, and I started decorating my house for my 2nd Annual Wacky Christmas Party! One of my favorite decorations is my 4′ artificial pre-lit tree. Why is this my favorite – because I elevate it up in front of my living room’s picture window so that it looks more like an 8′ tree. Something I picked up from my grammy whom I miss dearly, especially with this being our first Christmas without her. I’m probably going to keep adding lights in and perhaps outside of myhouse up until the day of the party. And I’m gonna break out the fryer for some great ol fried turkey for the party. Mmmm…

So in closing, Perhaps I should aim to have a new year’s resolution next month to blog more. Maybe if I stop blogging all together between now and then, it’ll be easier to meet the resolution then. Funny, I seem to have the same attitude about dieting – obviously overall counter productive…

Greetings from the Mile High City!

My new job (2 1/2 months now) has me traveling frequently. So far all my travel has been down to the Washington DC area. This week, however, I’m out here in Denver, CO. Flight out here was good, no delays which when flying out of Philly is a plus. I got out here on a Sunday so that I could get to the office first thing Monday morning, and I decided to get out here good and early in the day to help me adjust to the time difference.

I’ve been out to Denver area a few times over the past few years, all for work actually. It’s quite nice out here. Looking to the west you can almost always see the rocky mountains off in the distance. The air is cleaner here than back home. Some good food places, and the whole state is known for its micro-brews! And people here are genuinely nice.

Other times that I’ve been out here, I’ve done some sight seeing. Latest of which was just this past summer when I was down in Colorado Springs (about an hour south of here). I got lots of pictures from that trip, I actually took something like two or three days vacation out here, since I was here. Not sure If I’ll get that big of a chance this time for the sightseeing. But I’ve got a few friends out here that I’m hoping to go hang out with, and another friend from home is traveling out here later this week, also for work. So overall it should be a good week!
